For patients
What services does Calmera offer?
Calmera offers therapy, psychiatry, and medication management — with care pathways designed around your clinical needs and scheduling preferences. All services are delivered by telehealth.
Can I book online?
Yes. Complete a short screening form and book directly online for eligible services. Most patients are matched with a provider within a few business days.
Does Calmera accept insurance?
Calmera works with many major insurance plans. During intake, we help guide you through eligibility and next steps. Self-pay options are also available.
What if I'm not sure what type of care I need?
Our screening process helps identify whether therapy, psychiatry, medication support, or a combined pathway may be the best next step. You don't need to know before you start.
Is virtual care available?
Yes. All services are currently delivered by telehealth, across Maryland, DC, Virginia, and expanding states.
What if I'm in crisis or need urgent support?
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. For non-emergency urgent concerns, contact us directly and our intake team will prioritize your request.
For practitioners
Who can apply to join Calmera?
Licensed therapists (LCSW, LPC, LMFT), psychologists (PhD/PsyD), psychiatrists (MD/DO), and psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNP) practicing in our approved markets may apply.
Is this an employment or independent contractor role?
Clinicians join Calmera as independent contractors. You set your own schedule and availability. This is not an employment relationship, and no employee benefits are included.
How does compensation work?
Compensation is production-based — you earn a percentage of the revenue you personally bill and collect. Your share starts at 50% and increases to 60% then 65% as your caseload and tenure grow.
How long does credentialing take?
Credentialing typically takes 4–8 weeks depending on the payer. We manage the entire enrollment process for you and keep you updated throughout.
Do I need to carry my own malpractice insurance?
Yes. All clinicians are required to maintain their own professional liability (malpractice) insurance. We recommend minimum coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence / $3,000,000 annual aggregate.
How are new patients matched to me?
Calmera's intake system matches patients by service type, state, availability, and clinical fit — then routes them directly to your calendar through our scheduling platform.
